'wadee krubs!

I am very interested in cockfighting (gaichon), have been to quite a few fights in Isaan and Chiang Mai.  I am wondering if you can tell me is gai-chon LEGAL in Thailand?  I know that, technically, betting on gai chon is illegal, but the fights, are they?
